Ministries & Opportunities

At Mannsville Christian, we are dedicated to serving Christ through our assembly, as well as aiding our community and outreaching to those who serve Christ at home and abroad.  Along side our own development committees, we have a number of organizations, individuals, and institutions that we lend a helping hand.  Here are just a few of the ways we build up one another:

Worship Committee

This is a volunteer group that helps develop programming for worship.  This includes videos for the worship service, new music that can be utilized, non-verbal worship means, etc.  Meetings generally last about 30 minutes, and occur once a month after Morning Worship.

Visitor/Shut-in Greeting Committee

One of the ministries we take the most pride in is our Greeting Committee.  Volunteers help greet new arrivals and visitors to our congregation, send out birthday wishes on behalf of the Church, and send get well wishes to those that are unable to attend service due to prolonged illness or disability.

Soldier Support

Once a quarter, members of the congregation get the name of a soldier serving overseas in the armed forces, and collect food, reading materials, and other useful knick-knacks that help pass the time.  As a result, they are blessed, and often share their goods with their fellow soldiers in the field.

Vessels of Giving

In our vestibule, there are a number of jars placed in order to raise funds for several worthwhile ministries.  These include individual missionaries, Christian Bible colleges, as well as non-profit and civic organizations in the area.  These are for spare change donations or cash donations of any kind, and ALL moneys collected go directly to the mission/organization donated to.

Missionary Sundays

Our congregation aids a native missionary in India named U Jacob.  His work has been well documented to each congregation who helps him.  We collect money and goods for him to use in service to the building up of Christ's Kingdom overseas.

Prayer Chain

The prayer chain involves participating members on a call list that can be contacted in case of a major crisis (loss of a loved one, surgery, report of illness, etc.).  Members of the chain pass the info along the line until the entire chain is notified and has the chance to add the need to their personal prayer lists, as well as the church's.

Singspirations

Every 5th Sunday, Mannsville Christian participates in a Singspiration with 4 other Christian Churches (Tabernacle, Roley, Knifley, and Gum Lick).  It is an evening of traditional hymns sung by each congregation, and specials by members, and yes, even the preachers (unfortunately, earplugs are not provided for this part of the proceedings).  We are proud to be able to have the opportunity to share praise and worship in song to our Lord.

Donation Drives

During the summer months, we have material goods drives for charities that involve children, such as the Mountain Mission School in Grundy, VA, and the Galilean Children's Home in Liberty, KY.   These drives can include (but are not limited to) clothes, paper goods, and food.
